Having discovered Vashon Island Coffee Dust during the Strawberry Festival, I decided to sample Cocoa Calm. I must say, I have found it quite delightful! I prepare an iced coffee using shots from my espresso machine. I combine the espresso with the syrup flavor I desire for the day in a shaker. My preferred combinations thus far have been with either vanilla or caramel syrup. I then pour the shaken espresso over ice and add oat milk. It imparts a subtle hint of chocolate, and the lavender is very delicate. I particularly enjoyed it with caramel syrup, which reminds me of salted caramel.

Gummed up my machine

Can't put the dust on top of coffee grounds to go through the machine because it gums up the machine, the chocolate powder making the grounds move sluggishly through. Didn't taste any different. Tried dropping some into the coffee, and again, the flavor wasn't different. Will try other uses, but generally this is a disappointment.

Hi Neil - so sorry to hear this! I would love to know what kind of machine you've got so we can make sure other customers know this is a problem. In all of our experiments, Coffee Dust didn't work well in Aeropresses because of the small filter size, but have had success in other machines.
